Why was the VOB created?
Being veterans ourselves we found when leaving the forces, that there wasn’t a singular place for veterans to go. We understand some charities can help in other ways but personally, when searching for that safe space, we didn’t find one. It was only through the support of other veterans and making those contacts did we manage to feel like we could speak openly about our problems.
Suicide rates for veterans are astronomical, we have all experienced a loss from this in some shape or form. Everyone deserves to have a place to turn to, and that is why we are here. This centre is for vets to feel comfortable enough to express their emotions and gain back the camaraderie they feel they have lost.
