The HUB

VOB is a veteran drop-in centre based in Kent, dedicated to providing immediate, practical support to those who need it most. Through a strong network of small, independent, and highly responsive charities, community services, and employment opportunities, we offer help without delay – within a safe, welcoming environment and no waiting times.

However, as the veteran community continues to grow, so too has the demand for our services. We have now outgrown our current facility, and the increasing need for expanded support has become a pressing reality.

We are working towards creating a purpose-built training and support facility in Kent, this project will be the first of it’s kind in the UK. We will be able to offer;

  • An on-site Mental Health Specialist
  • NVQ training in Mechanics
  • Direct access to multiple charities who will be working within the facility
  • Access and support to employment
  • Life skills, computer lessons & CV writing

The “Veterans Hub” will have a large open communal space with coffee bar, open and intimate seating areas as well as a couple of small offices for private conversations and treatment areas for the charities. Downstairs will be a small main office and the NVQ training facility, supported by HX Motors and accredited by Mid Kent College.

The build updates:

Tuesday 21st April 2026

  • After a long journey with the council and planning process, we’re pleased to share that we’ve officially been given the green light to begin our build. With all conditions approved, we can now move ahead and start working with contractors to confirm a start date. Delays have pushed our original timeline back, meaning construction will now take place during a much busier period. We’re working closely with our contractors to move forward as efficiently as possible. Rising costs have also added pressure, so if you’d like to support us, every contribution makes a real difference, please consider clicking the “Support Us” button below. We’re so close now, and excited to get started.

  • Apologies for the recent lack of updates. Over the past couple of months, we’ve been working through the conditions attached to our planning approval. It’s been a detailed process, and we’ve needed to make some amendments to ensure we can move forward with building our hub as soon as possible. There have been plenty of steps along the way, but we’ve continued pushing forward. The good news is that in recent weeks we’ve had some positive developments, and our building start date is now coming into clearer view. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but we are determined to get this facility built. We know how vital it will be, and we remain fully committed to seeing it through. Thank you for your patience and continued support.

  • After a month of extra delays, setbacks, and plenty of patience, we’re so happy to say that we’ve finally received planning approval! A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us and helped make this happen, we honestly couldn’t have done it without you. It’s definitely been a stressful journey at times, but now it feels great to see all that hard work starting to pay off. The next step is working through the planning conditions and getting the right assessments in place. Once that’s done, we’ll be catching up with Glencar Construction and Gallagher to move things forward and start the next stage of the build. We’ll keep sharing updates here and on our socials as we go. We really want you to come along on this journey with us, and we’re so grateful for the support and belief you’ve shown – just as much as we have.
